Mid Season Meeting u14/16/19 Meeting

  • Athlete Schedules

A lot of time has been put into our programing, so it is important to take advantage of when we schedule rest and when we do not have rest scheduled. It is easy to want to modify based on emotions (that is why we schedule in the fall). We feel we have a laid our a very good schedule.

  • Eastern High School Qualifiers
    • Shelly Glover, Marquette, MI – January 18 – 20
    • Boyne Mountain, MI – January 26 -27
    • Can qualify on USSA points as well
  • Rocky Central Qualifier
    • Marquette Mountain – February 22-24
      • SG
      • GS
      • SL

Please note: Qualifying standards has changed from previous years.

  • Searchmont Camp
    • U14 – January 19-20
    • All Pinnacle U Programs– February 8-10

  • Speed skis
    • U16 SG skis 183 cm (min) and 30M radius (min)
    • U 14 SC skis no rule on length, must be 17M radius as minimum
    • Need to get athletes that don’t have SG skis on club equipment – there are a limited number of pairs for use

Pinnacle does not provide speed skis for all club members. We have a limited number of speed skis to share with members. If you are borrowing a pair of club skis, remember this is a benefit. It is expected that all club speed skis are tuned at the Ski Company and skis should be tuned at the Ski Company prior to returning to the club.

  • Weather and resorts
    • Need to be flexible with weather impacts
    • Some northern areas are lacking snow making

  • Rest and Health
    • Busy 6 weeks coming up
    • Need to make sure athletes get proper rest
    • Drink plenty of water
    • Maintain some level of fitness routine off the ski hill
  • Equipment questions
    • Ask your coaches what they might recommend

It is truly special what our club offers in training. Consider the acreage given to our club to train, snow quality, and  also the early morning sessions. This all can be taken away very quickly! We need to make sure we represent our club well in the lodge and all places we travel.  Resort staff is watching very close.

Early Morning Guidelines:

  • No Lodge Access until open to the general public (even if doors are open)
  • No Skiing from lodge to Pinnacle Building without a coach.  A coach will meet racers just out side of patrol. If you arrive late, you need to be dropped at the Pinnacle building.
  • There is no skiing outside of the race hill!
  • Pack a snack and water

Rocky/Central U16 Junior Championship Selections

Central Division selections for the Rocky/Central U16 (YOB 03/04) Jr Championships

Selection rankings will be posted below

For the 2018-2019 season, the Central Division will hold 1 qualifying series for R1,2,3,4, for selections to the Rocky/Central Junior Championships, over a 3 day weekend. The series will consist of 2 GS and 2 SL USSS scored races. USSS points will seed athletes for these events. Athletes will be selected for the R/C Junior Championships by using the combined rankings from the best three of five rankings from 1 SG/2 GS/2 SL. Rankings for the 1 SG, will be determined by using the most current SG National Points List, at the time the qualifying series events begins. All rankings will be determined by using a modified World Cup Points (top 45).

If a race or day is cancelled, best 3 of 5 still applies. Best efforts to complete 1 GS and 1 SL race will take priority. 1 run races can not be used for ranking criteria.

Using the single best result will break ties. If a tie still exists, the next best result would be used, and this process will continue until the tie is broken. If a tie is still not broken, race points will be used in the same process. All eligible qualifying rankings will be considered for tie-breaking purposes.

Seeding to the U16 RC Junior Championships events in Colorado are based on National Points seeding. There is no protected seeding.

USSA members holding an X (foreign) license that are living & attending school in the USA and training and competing in the Central Division may qualify for the R/C Junior Championships within the Central quotas. Central will then have an additional 4 quota spots total (men & women each) for the qualified X licensees.

All eligible athletes must be full time members of the Central Division and their local Region
by January 31. The full time membership names and #’s are to be reported to the Central Manager who will share with the CASC executive committee by Feb 1.

Two discretion spots per gender will be held for consideration by the Central Development Committee (consisting of the Central Coaches Chair and the four Regional Coaches Chairs). Official requests will be due 24 hours after the completion of the qualifying series. The Central Development Committee will rule on those ASAP following the 24hr deadline and report those decisions to the Central Division Manager. If there are no requests, then the 2 discrection spots will move down the list to the next ranked athletes.

The Central Division Qualifying Championships will reserve a quota of 5m/5w for Canadian athletes. They will be eligible to race, and will be apart of each race results, but will be purged for qualifying considerations and rankings to the R/C Junior Championships.

2019 Central Division U16 Quota for U16 RCJC = 90

The Store to purchase the Jackets will open at 5 PM EST on Sunday Feb 25 and close at 8 AM EST on Monday Feb 26

Only qualified and attending athletes may order a Jacket
